QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

What You May Be Wondering.

Beginning psychiatric care often comes with questions. Below you'll find helpful information about appointments, telehealth, medication management, fees, communication, and what to expect from care.

Getting Started

Who do you work with?

Nicola Gagliano Psychiatry & Wellness, PLLC provides private-pay psychiatric care to adults age 18 and older who are physically located in Florida at the time of clinical services.

How do I get started?

You may begin with a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to learn more about the practice and determine whether scheduling an initial psychiatric evaluation may be appropriate. If you're ready to begin care, you may also request an initial psychiatric evaluation. Discovery calls are informational and do not include psychiatric assessment or treatment.

What happens during my first psychiatric evaluation?

Your initial evaluation is an in-depth conversation about your current concerns, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatment experiences, medications, lifestyle factors, and goals for care. When clinically appropriate, you'll discuss diagnostic impressions, treatment options, and recommendations for next steps.

How long is the initial evaluation?

Initial psychiatric evaluations are typically scheduled for 75–90 minutes. An extended initial evaluation of up to 120 minutes may be appropriate when additional time is needed.

Telehealth

Are appointments virtual?

+

Yes. Appointments are provided through secure telehealth. You must be physically located in Florida at the time of your appointment.

What do I need for a telehealth appointment?

+

You will need a reliable internet connection, a compatible phone, tablet, or computer, and a private location where you can comfortably participate in your appointment.

Can I attend an appointment while traveling?

+

Your physical location at the time of care matters. If you will be outside Florida at the time of your appointment, please contact the practice in advance so appropriate next steps can be discussed.

Medications & Treatment

Does scheduling an evaluation guarantee that medication will be prescribed?

No. An evaluation does not guarantee that medication—or any particular medication—will be prescribed. Treatment recommendations are individualized and based on clinical assessment, safety considerations, treatment history, and your needs and goals.

Do you prescribe controlled medications?

Controlled medications may be considered when clinically appropriate following an adequate evaluation and in accordance with applicable prescribing requirements and practice policies. An evaluation does not guarantee that a controlled medication will be prescribed or continued. Additional records, monitoring, testing, or follow-up may be required when clinically appropriate.

Will you continue medications prescribed by another clinician?

Possibly. Current and previous medications are reviewed as part of your evaluation. Continuation of any medication depends on clinical appropriateness, safety, available treatment history, and the clinician's independent assessment.

Do you provide psychotherapy?

Psychotherapeutic interventions may be incorporated into psychiatric visits when clinically appropriate. The practice primarily focuses on psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and individualized treatment planning and may recommend ongoing psychotherapy with a therapist when appropriate.

What does integrative mental wellness mean?

Integrative mental wellness considers factors such as sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress, lifestyle, and appropriate complementary strategies alongside evidence-informed psychiatric treatment. Recommendations are individualized and are intended to complement—not replace—appropriate psychiatric or medical care.

Fees & Payment

What are your fees?

Current fees are available on the Fees section of the website and are reviewed before services are scheduled. Fees vary depending on the type and length of appointment or service requested.

Do you accept insurance?

Nicola Gagliano Psychiatry & Wellness, PLLC is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. A superbill may be provided upon request for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your individual insurance plan and is not guaranteed.

What is your cancellation policy?

At least 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments are subject to the full scheduled appointment fee, except when an emergency or other exception is approved by the practice.

Between Appointments

How do I contact the practice?

For general administrative questions, you may contact the practice by phone or email. Please do not send sensitive clinical information or protected health information through ordinary email or unsecured website forms. When appropriate, use the practice's designated secure communication method for clinical or protected health information. Routine communication should not be used for emergencies.

Can family members participate in my care?

Yes, when clinically appropriate and with your authorization. Family involvement may include sharing relevant information or participating in a scheduled consultation when appropriate. Applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements continue to apply.

Do you complete forms, letters, or reports?

Requests for forms, letters, reports, accommodations, certifications, and record review are considered individually and may involve additional professional time and fees. Completion of a particular document or clinical conclusion is not guaranteed and depends on clinical appropriateness and sufficient supporting information.

Urgent & Emergency Needs

Is this practice appropriate for emergencies?

No. Nicola Gagliano Psychiatry & Wellness, PLLC is an outpatient telehealth practice and does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are experiencing an immediate medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For a mental health or suicide-related crisis in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
